This article aims to identify the regulatory strategies, individual and collective, adopted by a nursing team in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), to manage the variability and achieve the productive and health and safety management objectives in the sector and in the analyzed context. The methodology used in the study is based on the Ergonomic Analysis of Work (EAW) and Ergology. As a result, it became evident that individual and collective strategies are carried out at all times to supply the variability imposed by the environment, to manage the risks of the process, which is complex and demands a necessary cooperation from the collective, whose regulation is effective in resingularization in the face of local standards, necessary for the construction and updating of knowledge in view of the risk and constraints imposed, in addition to the excess of turnover that causes impacts on the sector, such as loss of knowledge, values and the destructuring of this collective, which is structuring.
