Abstract
- The article contests the dependence of patient-oriented research (POR) on reductionistic quantitative evidence and argues for the inclusion of wholistic qualitative evidence in POR to deliver quality healthcare and remedy shiny object syndrome in western medicine. It provides information on the history of POR and raises the issue of evidence with respect to POR implementation into clinical practice. It discusses the postmodernist critique and autocratic approach of evidence-based practice.
