Abstract

Biometric systems include automatic methods for verifying or recognizing a person's identity based on physiological features such as fingerprints or face patterns, as well as behavioural aspects such as handwriting or keystrokes. Some of the most common biometric properties are depicted in the image below. The more reliable system is obtained by using physiological characteristics. The system based on behavioural characteristics is easier to integrate into specific applications but it is not comparatively more genuine than the above-mentioned system. Using biometric features is the only way to ensure the owner's presence during the transaction. With the use of today's technology low-cost construction can be enabled. The biometric system has been adopted widely now – days due to some advantages. Although this technology is upcoming one and it is also facing a lot of challenges but it is growing rapidly in the market in spite of the untrustworthy biometric data including voice or fingerprint of the person. Talking about the effectiveness of biometrics, it is very customer efficient, economically sound for business purpose and it is also more secure method compared to any other authentication approach.
