- Reports on Sharp Electronics Corp.'s investment in the construction of a plant in Japan for the production of 45-inches and bigger liquid crystal displays (LCD) for televisions. Company's opening of an integrated LCD TV plant in Kameyama Mie Prefecture in Japan to produce 32-inch and 37-inch LCD; Planned facility to used eighth-generation glass substrates.
