Eritrea 2002: Results from the Demographic and Health Survey.

The paper presents the results of the 2002 Eritrea Demographic and Health Survey (2002 EDHS) conducted by the National Statistics and Evaluation Office, Asmara, Eritrea, within the framework of the Demographic and Health Survey of ORC Macro. Data for the nationally representative 2002 EDHS were collected from 9,389 household and complete interviews were carried out among women aged 15-49. The fieldwork took place between the last week of March and the first week of July 2002. The paper discusses the general characteristics of the surveyed population. Statistics are presented on the knowledge, use and methods of contraception among the respondents. Also, the types of assistance during delivery are analyzed.
