Abstract
- The article presents author's narrative of the recent changing in the journal "The Sociological Quarterly." Readers of this journal have already detected one major change when they viewed our new cover, designed by the very talented Steven Rachwal. This redesign reflects two other changes that have occurred simultaneously: the Board of the Midwest Sociological Society has contracted with Blackwell Publishing to publish the journal for the next five years, and it has appointed me to serve as Editor for the next four years. Despite these changes, everyone associated with the journal is committed to preserving the legacy of a publication that ranks among the most important generalist journals in the discipline. We build on a long tradition of publishing high-quality, often cutting-edge, scholarship. Readers will be interested in knowing that one of the projects already underway is the digitization of the journal, from Volume 1, Number 1 in 1960 to the present. Once this task is complete, journal subscribers will have full and easy access to the entire history of TSQ.
