Abstract

With the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) there is a need for the execution of quality cartographic products for an adequate cadastre, but there is no legal provision in the legislation for a qualified professional to perform the service, and there is still the possibility of using a GPS navigation and low quality satellite images in the cadastre. The objective of this study was to analyze the areas of rural properties in the Municipality of Francisco Dantas - RN registered in SICAR, determining the amount of registered area that exceeds municipal limits, quantifying the registered area in urban perimeter and determining the overlapping area of registered residents and the number of rural properties that overlap in area. Data from the rural properties studied were downloaded from the National System of Rural Environmental Registry (SICAR) platform in shapefile format. These data were processed and with the help of Microsoft Excel® software, data on the total area of properties (ATI), total area of preserved properties (ATId) and total overlapping area (AST) were obtained. Using Qgis®, the percentage of overlapping area in each property and the areas registered outside the municipal limits were quantified, using the municipal limits obtained from the IBGE data. To define the area registered in urban areas, IBGE census regions were used. Most of the residents registered in SICAR in Francisco Dantas - RN presented area overlaps, with some registered in the urban area and others registered in more than one municipality.
