Abstract

The article reports on the claim by Blondie drummer Clem Burke that drumming courses should be included in the national curriculum in England following research results showing that drumming positively affects the brain function and behaviour of adolescent people with autism. Based on the study by the Clem Burke Drumming Project, participants with autism who showed improvements in drumming skills have fewer signs of inattention, hyperactivity and repetitive behaviours than others.
