Abstract
- Because itprovides stability and support to the body and also because of its location, the knee is one of the most important structures in our body and, therefore, the joint with the highest probability of suffering any type of injury. Thus, any injury, damage or minimal dysfunction that occurs, ends up causing afunctional imbalance in the injured individual. The study sought to evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary protocol for the rehabilitation of individuals who suffered ACL injuries and underwent surgical intervention for ligament reconstruction. Descriptive case series study with therapeutic intervention and quantitative approach. Five men with a clinical diagnosis of total ACL tear participated in the study and underwent surgical intervention to reconstruct the ligament through the patellar tendon. The assessment of range of motion, the Thomas and Ely manual tests, the strength of the lower limbs with a 10 RM test and the IKDC and Lysholm questionnaires were applied to each patient. The objectives that were proposed by the multidisdplinary rehabilitation protocol were achieved, so that the study participants gained ROM, muscle strength gain, improved quality of life and especially the achievement of good functionality. The protocol consisted of four microcycles and was performed by each patient in a total of 36 sessions. The research showed that carrying out a multidisciplinary protocol focused on the rehabilitation of patients with ACL injuries and surgical intervention was effective for the participants of this study.
