Abstract
- The book "Steps in the Atrium: Kafka, Roth, and Buber" by Gabriel Insausti analyzes the lives and decisions of Franz Kafka, Philip Roth, and Martin Buber, and how these figures become travel companions on a path marked by Buber's investigations. The author explores the psychoanalytic, biographical, and theological interpretations of Kafka's writing, and suggests that his work reflects his desire to break with family traditions and give his work a prophetic character. Additionally, the book examines the relationship between Kafka, Roth, and Buber and Central European Judaism in the first half of the 20th century. The text highlights the importance of waiting and hope in the existence of Jews during that time and place, and proposes the need for a renewed Judaism. In conclusion, the book offers a profound insight into the symbolic worlds of Kafka, Roth, and Buber, revealing their existential, philosophical, and historical roots. [Extracted from the article]
