Abstract
- This study aimed to evaluate the opinions of health professionals and patients about tobacco products and compare these opinions. The descriptive and cross-sectional study sample consists of 124 healthcare professionals working in a state hospital and 276 patients treated in this hospital. The data were collected face-to-face with an information form containing socio-demographic information and a questionnaire containing questions about tobacco use. SPSS 25 package program was used in the data analysis of the study. It was determined that 33.1% of the healthcare workers used to smoke daily, and 45.7% of the patients did not smoke at all. When being a role model for society regarding smoking / non-smoking is examined, 52.4% of the healthcare professionals answered "yes", while 50.4% of the patients answered "no". Regarding the continuation of the indoor smoking ban in Turkey, the answer given by 66.9% of healthcare professionals and 7.5% of patients is "the ban should continue as the same way". According to the results of the study, men compared to women; It can be stated that healthcare professionals use more tobacco products than patients. Awareness-raising trainings should be given to health workers and patients about the harms of tobacco products. Smoking cessation incentive programs and public service announcements should be increased. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
