Abstract

The dielectric properties of BN–ZrB2 and BN–ZrO2 based ceramic materials synthesized by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) from a powder mixture (boron B, boron nitride BN, and zirconium dioxide ZrO2) in a nitrogen N2 atmosphere were investigated. The experimental results showed that the ceramic synthesized from the initial mixture with the composition (30B + 10ZrO2 + 60BN, wt.%) possesses room-temperature dielectric permittivity ε = 2.63 and dielectric loss tangent tan δ = 0.006.
