Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic autoimmune inflammatory disease that predominantly affects small joints, with frequent extra-articular and sometimes atypical manifestations. This work aims to carry out an integrative review of the literature regarding atypical presentations of rheumatoid arthritis. We followed the narrative literature review method from a search in the VHL electronic database to identify articles from the last 2 years following the items of the Guidelines for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA). In the search strategy, we used the following health descriptors: "rheumatoid arthritis" and "unusual symptoms" OR "atypical clinic". This pathology has a wide occurrence of symptoms that accumulate throughout the patient's life and have nonspecific characteristics. The atypical manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis increase the worsening of the prognosis and reduce the individual's survival, so they are of paramount clinical importance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
