Abstract

The article examines a stele from the 2nd century AD, on which it is claimed that a woman named Julia became the goddess Hekate. The stele was discovered in Mesembria and contains figurative reliefs depicting Julia as a goddess. The authors argue that the stele, through its origin and certain narrative strategies, allowed for the belief in Julia's transformation into Hekate. However, the exact age indication of Julia on the stele is unclear. The stele is considered as evidence for the belief in immortality after death among the Thracians. [Extracted from the article]
