Outer Bounds for the Extremal Eigenvalues of Positive Definite Matrices.

In this paper, we show how the outer bounds of the extremal eigenvalues of real positive definite symmetric irreducible matrices may be improved by the simple application of optimizing the Gerschgorin bounds.
