Abstract

Although the application of thermoelectric in the various field has been implemented, the effort to search new materials remain actively conducted. Thermoelectric devices may help human life not only in harvesting renewable energy, but also reduce heat pollution. As a tropical country, Indonesia produces a lot of unused heats energy from various machines, households, or natural phenomena. The research to produce new materials, as well as their thermoelectric devices, are essential. Following our previous work, the CuS based materials may need to be improved the phase fraction, crystallite size, and crystallinity. The role of modifying ion fraction in the Cu site is expected to modify its local structure. A small different in ionic radii as well its valence may enrich the local distortion as well as their anisotropic heats and electrical conductivities. Shortly, the CuSNi was syntheized using modification of polyol method. The first step was dissolving raw materials using Tetraethylene glycol (TEG). All the process were kept in oxygene free condition. For the reason, we used a system which allowing a flowing nitrogen gas at a temperature of 150 °C and followed by centrifugation of the solution. The black powder was obtained after drying process using a vacuum desiccator. The black powder of CuSNi nanomaterials were characterized XRD, electrical conductivity and FTIR. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
