Abstract

A biological factorial experiment was carried out during the autumn season 2020 on 10 November, 2020 using a randomized complete block design (RCBD) in a loam soil to study the effect of adding vermicompost produced from food residues and sawdust by earthworm enriched with bacterial vaccines on the numbers of total bacteria and fungi and readiness of some elements and some growth and yield characteristics of the onion plant Allium cepa L. The experiment included 20 treatments that resulted from the interaction of two factors, the first factor included the impacted and not impacted vermicompost with bacteria Azotobacter crococcum and Bacillus sp, the second factor included adding earthworm (W1) and without earthworm (W0), each treatment was repeated three times, the results showed the superiority of vermicompost treatment of food residues enriched with two bacteria (A.crococcum, Bacillus sp) with adding earthworm on some characteristics of vegetative growth such as plant height 59.66 cm, root length 14.41 cm and total yield 79816.87 kg. ha-1, and in the readiness of some elements in the soil such as nitrogen concentration in the soil 63.25 ppm and potassium concentration 346.00 ppm, while the treatment of vermicompost of food residues enriched with Bacillus sp bacteria with adding earthworm gave the highest concentration of phosphorous 17.89 ppm.
