Abstract

The article describes a practical project at FH Münster that deals with supporting young nurses in their career entry. The focus is on the perspective of the mentors. Interviews describe various challenges such as staff shortages, unclear roles and expectations of the mentors, lack of communication, and missing onboarding concepts. Support measures mentioned include structured orientation and onboarding concepts, qualified mentors, reflection and feedback discussions, as well as handbooks. The entry process should be designed as a continuous program with specific goals. It is emphasized that a long-term commitment and development perspective for nursing professionals is important and further steps of support are necessary. [Extracted from the article]
