For a long time, abandoned land has become an important issue at the national level. Various efforts have been carried out to enable these lands to be cultivated and developed. This article aims to discuss suitable alternative approaches in managing abandoned land. It is analyzed by using the appropriate waqf approach in considering how to manage abandoned land. This study uses secondary data content analysis methods obtained from official documents and past studies. The findings of the study found that the focus was given to the factors and the government's efforts to deal with them. This explains that the effort to dismantle abandoned land is not an emphasis that needs to be noticed but the most important focus is how these abandoned lands can be managed well. There are many studies that have touched on the factors and reasons for the occurrence of abandoned agricultural land. However, studies that focus on solutions in managing abandoned agricultural land are still not carried out. Therefore, the focus on waqf methods in managing abandoned land has been detailed. The waqf approach is seen as rational in managing abandoned lands belonging to the Malays in particular. This is because waqf is not only a form of practice that focuses on religion, but it also emphasizes the economic development of the community.
