Abstract

Two isomorphic one-dimensional coordination polymers, [Mn(tp)0.5(HL)(H2O)]n·nH2O and [Co(tp)0.5(HL)(H2O)]n·nH2O [H2L = 3-(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole; H2tp = terephthalic acid], were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The title compounds were characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffractions, FTIR, and TGA. Both compounds crystallize in triclinic, space group P-1. They display a one-dimensional chain structure, those are connected by O–H···O hydrogen bonds to generate 2D structure. In addition, temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility studies for the complexes were described. The results indicate that domain a weak antiferromagnetic exchange coupling between the adjacent Mn(II) centers in [Mn(tp)0.5(HL)(H2O)]n·nH2O , and the magnetic susceptibility from 60 to 300 K obeys the Curie–Weiss law with a Weiss constant θ of –11.84 K in [Co(tp)0.5(HL)(H2O)]n·nH2O.
