Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the nutritional status of the hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score and to analyze the risk factors of malnutrition by multivariate Logistic regression. Methods: 454 cases of hospitalized patients with T2DM in our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022 were selected, and they were divided into malnutrition group with 68 cases and normal nutrition group with 386 cases according to CONUT score. The baseline data of patients were collected, and multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with T2DM. Results: The incidence of malnutrition in 454 cases of hospitalized patients with T2DM was 14.98% (68/454). Univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in glycated hemoglobin Alc (HbA1c), age, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), body mass index (BMI), C-reactive protein (CRP), course of disease, lymphocyte count, smoking, hemoglobin, albumin and 2 h postpran- dial blood glucose in the two groups (P<0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that decreased albumin, age greater than or equal to 60 years, decreased hemoglobin, decreased BMI, decreased HDL-C, prolonged course of disease, smoking and increased CRP were independent risk factors for malnutrition in hospitalized patients with T2DM (P<0.05). Conclusion: The incidence of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with T2DM is high. Age, BMI, course of disease, smoking, albumin, hemoglobin, HDL-C, CRP are independent influencing factors of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with T2DM. CONUT score can quickly screen the nutritional status of hospitalized patients with T2DM, which is helpful to guide clinical timely intervention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
