Abstract

This article aims to present some contributions of phenomenology to the education area. It is intended to first draw an historic perspective about the science crises and the emergence of phenomenology, since we comprehend the importance of technical rationality criticism to understand the thinking of education. The method of narrative bibliography review was used to conduct this study. Nowadays, part of the formal education fallows models based in the technical rationality, that prioritize content and the effectiveness of know-how. The phenomenological education emphasizes (a) singularities of the student; (b) situates educators and students in a dialectic relationship, realizing the importance of amazement with knowledge; and (c) offers, from the pedagogical practices and the experience of each one, an opening for the countless possibilities of being. The emphasis is to imply the technical rationality in the education field, pointing out a perspective in which doing is allied with being and to its possibilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
