Abstract

The traditional two-unit cascaded H-bridge inverter had a small number of output levels, and the output power of each unit was unbalanced under the traditional carrier amplitude shift modulation strategy. To solve these problems, this paper proposed an asymmetric cascaded eight switch inverter topology, and proposed an improved POD-PWM power equalization modulation strategy for the proposed topology. The inverter was cascaded by two identical asymmetric eight switch seven level inverters, which could output 13 level voltage, and achieved the output power balance between units in an output cycle while reducing the number of switches. Finally, the correctness and feasibility of the proposed topology and its power equalization method was verified by simulation and experiment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
