Abstract
- In Indonesia, more than 6.3 million children under the age of 5 are stunted. The Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) are well described and can be as severe as permanent cognitive loss and stunted growth. It is interesting to know about the parental role and efforts to access health programs about the risk of stunting. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between morbidity, nutritional care, and utilization of posyandu with the proportions of stunting in children under the age of five. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 379 toddlers aged 6 – 48 months (251 stunted, 128 normal) living in IDD crowded areas. Subject characteristics are obtained by interview. Anthropometric measurements' toddler calculated the nutritional status. This study shows a high proportion of stunting (60.1%) in toddlers who have a risk of growth delay. Logistic regression results showed that toddlers often had had a fever (AOR 2.399; 95% CI: 1.176-4.894; p<0.05) and no exclusive breastfeeding (AOR 2.126; 95% CI; 1.034-4.374; p <0.05) are more at risk of experiencing stunting. Morbidity and no exclusive breastfeeding increase the risk of stunting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
