Abstract

The book "Mexico's Social Policies: Constitutional Rights, Institutional Architecture 2000-2018" is a compilation of 30 chapters written by 33 authors from universities in Mexico, Argentina, and Spain. The book analyzes the international and national context of social policies, as well as the progress in the recognition of rights and the consequences of the heterogeneity in the conception of the welfare state. It also addresses topics such as violence, constitutional rights, health, food, housing, education, inequality, and poverty. The book offers a critical view of the period from 2000 to 2018 and highlights the gap between legal rights and their implementation in reality. The article "The Relationship between Research and Social Policies in the Face of Poverty in Mexico" analyzes the connection between research and social policies in Mexico in relation to poverty, focusing on the Progresa-Oportunidades-Prospera (prop) program and its impact on the fight against poverty in Mexico.
