Abstract

The following article will show the results of the qualitative documentary research on the experiences of intergenerational relations in Latin American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay, which were analyzed from the perspective of critical gerontology in the educational, health and community fields. The techniques used were document files and analysis, reviewing the last 10 years of the state of the art on the subject, by means of the effects analysis matrix and the matrix of categories and subcategories created for this research. The information obtained corresponds to secondary sources consisting of books, scientific journals, and documents from international organizations. Basing the research on Critical Gerontology, looking at the elderly with renewed perspectives with a positive approach seeking the integral development of the individual, focusing on the hermeneutic methodology. As for the results, the positive effects of intergenerational relationships are evidenced, observing a different view of old age on the part of the younger generation, recognizing the experiences and wisdom that older people possess. In the face of these intergenerational relationship encounters, there is reciprocity in the exchange of knowledge, contributing to intergenerational solidarity and above all to positive aging.
