Abstract
- Introduction: Stress and stress-related diseases have far-reaching consequences in both personal and professional life. Saliva analysis has become very appealing in comparison to other detection methods due to its non-invasive sampling. This study aimed to assess the Correlation between stress, discrimination and salivary stress biomarkers level among Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) population in chennai. Methodology: Snowball Non-Probability sampling technique was used to include the participants (control n=11, TGNC n=11), Unstimulated saliva was collected by Passive drool method and evaluated using competitive sandwich ELISA technique. Results: To find out the statistical significant difference we used Mann Whitney U test. There was a high statistical significance in 8-OHdG levels between control and TGNC. No statistical significant difference in (Total Antioxidant Capacity) TAC levels. Where, p>0.05. Spearman's correlation was used to correlate between the groups. Conclusion: In conclusion, the results of Correlation between stress, discrimination and salivary biomarker level of 8-OHdG showed statistical significant difference with p>0.05. The results of this study will be useful in guiding larger-scale studies to assess & to shape practical interventions to benefit TGNC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
