Details the experiences of a U.S. soldier during an assault across the Rhine River in World War II. Role of the 168th Combat Engineers in keeping roads open and passable for Allied forces; Use of manually rowed M1 assault boats in carrying troops of the 89th Infantry Division across the river; Efforts of German gunners in shooting a DUKW amphibious truck which was used to rescue wounded soldiers.
