Abstract

The article discusses the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying tissue regeneration and fibrotic healing in mammals. Topics discussed include egenerative response of spiny mice (Acomys species), which can naturally regenerate complex tissues, to laboratory mouse strains (Mus), which heal with scar tissue, and ERK activation in nonregenerative species.
