Abstract
- This study aimed to discuss how Environmental Education is presented in the curriculum of Licentiate Degree courses in Social Sciences, History, Geography and Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Paraíba - UFPB, Campus de João Pessoa. Therefore, it was based on a qualitative research, figuring the subjective meaning of the messages expressed in the analyzed content, through Document Analysis. For the treatment of the data found, Content Analysis was used, in association with Document Analysis, in the search for contextual conditions and evaluative and historical components, which are changeable. As a result, it was possible to observe that, despite the characteristics of critical education, the curricula still present traditional and pragmatic projects that favor conservative and behavioral environmental educational approaches. It is concluded that it is paramount that training processes, developed capacities, professional profiles and contents covered in the curricular field are based on the understanding of reality in its entirety. That they are theoretically, methodologically and epistemologically based on critical theories of education, and that they express the necessary coherence to achieve the expected transformations.
