The multinational corporations alliance strategy in the Indonesian mining industry: A case of smelter development requirement and environmental issues.

This paper discusses the Indonesian government's policy to limit exports of raw mining products and pressures mining business actors to build smelters to provide added value mining products. This policy also has an impact on mining entrepreneurs, rural residents, and also countries that are trusted as trading partners of Indonesia. The impact given is negative because the actors are concerned about the disadvantage due to the implementation of this policy; environmental issues are also one of the impacts for rural residents.
