Abstract

Introduction Nosocomial infections constitute a serious issue for hospitals, and epidemiology nurses are the medical professionals who play a crucial role in reducing them. Aim The aim of this study was to identify the motivating factors and to evaluate the job satisfaction among this professional group. Material and methods 191 respondents from all over Poland participated in the study assessing the motivating factors and job satisfaction of epidemiological nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results and conclusions The research showed that, statistically significantly, the highest level of satisfaction was presented by respondents aged over 51, and the highest level of frustration was reported by those with 11--20 years of work experience. The satisfaction level of the respondents increased with seniority. Moreover, a relationship was shown between the sense of appreciation by employers, the salary received and the level of satisfaction. As the most significant demotivating factor, epidemiological nurses indicated remuneration inadequate to their work. The level of education and organizational affiliation did not affect job satisfaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
