Abstract

Perception is a subjective but direct tool to test community resilience. This paper defines the connotation of perception of community resilience(PCR)to typhoon disasters, andanalyzes the path of perceiving community resilience to typhoon disasters. Furthermore, based on the three-dimensional connotation of "ability-process-goal" of community resilience, this paper develops the theoretical framework of assessing residents' PCR to typhoon disasters. The theoretical framework includes six dimensions, namely, perceptions of facilities stability, response efficiency, residents' participation, disaster impact, material construction, and organization construction, which can comprehensively reflect the PCR of residents to typhoon disasters. Then, the weight of the identified 28 evaluation indexes is identified through expert interview. Finally, three communities in Wenling, Zhejiang Province are selected as research cases to evaluate the PCR to typhoon disasters. Recommendations are further proposed to enhance community resilience based on the findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
