Abstract

The article titled "Decolonizing Urban Territories: From Colonial Planning to Responses from Critical Interculturality" is a review of the book of the same name, edited by M. Caulkins et al. The book addresses the conflicting relationship between contemporary territorial planning and the worldviews of indigenous peoples in Chile from a multidisciplinary and critical perspective. It highlights the invisibility of indigenous territorial organization systems by the European colonial project, as well as the strategies of imposition of territorial ordering and planning practices. The book also examines the responses of indigenous peoples to the established national framework, focusing on rural expulsion and Mapuche migration to the city, and on critical interculturality as a relationship based on horizontality. Overall, the book seeks to promote critical and decolonial thinking about the effect of territorial planning on contemporary societies. [Extracted from the article]
