ABSTRACTS OF THE ARTICLES.

The article presents abstracts of papers that appear in the August 1985 issue of the journal "Policy Studies Review." The paper "Perspectives on Agricultural Policy, 1985," by Don Hadwiger focuses on farm policy which is aimed at ending farm subsidies based on the assumption that this will improve farm income and make farmers more efficient. The paper "Workfare in New Jersey: A Five Year Assessment," by Valerie Englander and Fred Engtander reviews the debate on the relative virtues of "workfare" and examines how successful earlier workfare programs have been. The central focus of the paper is on the New Jersey General Assistance Employability Program, a workfare program imposed on New Jersey's General Assistance recipients in mid-1978.
