Abstract

Changes in work affect the organizational culture of higher education institutions, changing the way teachers relate to them and perform their activities, which can lead to illnesses. The aim was to investigate a possible relationship between organizational culture and university professors' health. This is an integrative review with high sensitivity search, using PRISMA standards, in PubMed, Cochrane, PsycNet and VHL databases. Articles available in full in Portuguese, Spanish and English and excluded, abstracts published in congresses and works that were not linked to the subject were included. The following MeSH descriptors were used, referring to the first three bases: "Faculty", "Organizational Culture", "Occupational Health" and the DeCS descriptors, referring to the last base: "Teachers", "Organizational Culture" and "Health of the Worker". These descriptors were combined with their synonyms with the Boolean OR operator and among the themes, the AND. 700 studies were found, 36 of which were eliminated and 647 were published, based on the title and abstract reading. Finally, there were 17 articles that were read in their entirety and, as not all of them fit the theme, only 6 articles were taken into consideration for this study. The works show a strong relationship between organizational culture and occupational health, mainly in terms of vitality and well-being. It is also possible to see that practices and values of guidance, initiative, support and positive close have a stronger predictive relationship, while values of negative effects and deviations generated damage to the health of teachers.
