Abstract

The article focuses on African American voters in Chicago who are torn between two mayoral candidates who have distinctly different approaches to tackling the city's crime issue. Topics include the candidates' views on law enforcement and public safety including policing tools such as ShotSpotter and a gang database, expanding the detective ranks within the police department, opening more mental health clinics and creating after-school programs to reduce crime among teenagers.
