Abstract
- A male Kintamani dog aged 1 year 7 months, showing symptoms of blood dripping from the penis. This dog had been treated with doxycycline for a week after being diagnosed with a possible bladder infection and blood parasite. The result of physical examination and cytology had found Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT) that accompanied by ehrlichiosis infection as the results of a complete blood examination a rapid test for blood parasite. The prognosis for cases of TVT with surgery and chemotherapy is fausta, however, the prognosis for ehrlichiosis is dubius due to the disease's nature that easily re-infect when the general health declined. TVT was treated with surgery and chemotherapy using Vincristine Sulfate 0.025 mg/kg BW, IV q7h for 4 weeks. Ehrlichiosis was treated with Doxycycline 5 mg/kg BW, PO q12 for 14 days. Weekly physical exams and complete blood counts were used to confirm the healing process. Ehrlichiosis healing is defined by normal platelet counts, while TVT cure is defined by the absence of new tumor growth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
