Abstract
- The trial experiment of compound formulation for make heat shrinkable materials for cable insulation by radiation was investigated. The experiment' aims to create a trial of the compound of formulation for cable insulation formulated in formulation number one and number two. Formulation number one was 90 % 0f LDPE, 1 % of Irganox 1076, 8% carbon black, and 1 % flame retardant. Formulation number two was 80% of LDPE, 1 % of Irganox 1076, 8% carbon black, 1 % flame retardant, and 10% butyl rubber. This study represented an experiment to evaluate formulation number one and number two to mechanical and shrinkage properties in the cable industry machinery. In this experiment, the radiation-induced crosslinking of LDPE was irradiated under the 2 Mev electron beam machine GJ-2 with a dose of 200 kGy. The sample crosslinking was studied based on gel measurement and mechanical properties. The results indicated that formulation numbers one and two could be used as heat shrinkable material in industrial machinery. It was found that formulation number two had better gel content and mechanical properties than formula number one. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
