Abstract

Catherine wrote a book about her extraordinary upbringing, I With a Daughter's Eye: Memoir of Margaret Mead and Gregory Bateson i (M. Bateson [16]), which charmed readers with evocative portraits of her parents and their ideals. Toward the end of her residence in Iran, in 1979, Catherine's mother, who had paid a celebrated visit to Catherine's family in Iran, passed away in New York.
