Abstract
- Catherine wrote a book about her extraordinary upbringing, I With a Daughter's Eye: Memoir of Margaret Mead and Gregory Bateson i (M. Bateson [16]), which charmed readers with evocative portraits of her parents and their ideals. Toward the end of her residence in Iran, in 1979, Catherine's mother, who had paid a celebrated visit to Catherine's family in Iran, passed away in New York. According to Catherine's family, the book's title had a second meaning: "With a Daughter's I I i ", indicating that it was about the interrelationships among all three individuals - her mother, her father, and Catherine herself.
