Abstract

Background: Recovery is a fundamental construct in the health care of patients diagnosed with Schizophrenia. The Recovery Assessment Scale (RAS) is the most widely used with different versions in number of items and factors. Methods: 227 patients from three outpatient mental health centers participated in the study. They were administered the Spanish adapted version of the RAS-41, the Internalized Stigma Scale (ISMI-29) and the Schizophrenia Quality of Life Scale (SQoL-18). Results: the results showed good fit indices for the original five-factor structure (CFI=.95; TLI=.94; SRMR=.054; RMSEA=.059), acceptable internal consistency (α=.90; ω=.91), and significant correlations with the criterion variables. Conclusions: The results support the use of the 18-item version of the RAS in Chile as a valid and reliable measure of recovery for the clinical population diagnosed with schizophrenia.
