Abstract

Hypertension, i.e. increased blood pressure is one of the causes of maternal death. Nutrients intake, physical activity, and pregnancy characteristics have a relationship with blood pressure. This cross-sectional study involved 110 pregnant women in the 3rd trimester in Bogor. The Spearman analysis showed that eicosapentaenoic acid/EPA intake had a correlation with diastolic blood pressure, while physical activity was not related. The pregnancy characteristics closely related to blood pressure were history of abortus, pre-pregnancy BMI, gravidity, mid upper arm circumference/MUAC, parity, and maternal age. This study highlights the importance of pregnancy characteristics to control hypertension. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
