ŠVEJK'S WORST FEARS REALIZED.

This article focuses on the developments in Czech Republic. The Czech Republic entered the European Union rather quietly and without any real signs of joy, as if ashamed to admit the historical significance of this step. True, there were the muted obligatory celebrations, with the politicians doing their best not to do so in the same place at the same time. Although Czechs spend over 70 billion of their own hard-earned crowns on betting every year, they expect everything else, including democracy, to come from the state.
