Abstract

To identify and analyze the occurrence of outpatient chemotherapy suspensions in the treatment of breast cancer. Qualitative, descriptive research, developed in an oncology hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Nine nurses participated through a semi-structured interview using the focus group technique on August 23 and 30, 2021, submitted to thematic analysis. Data analysis focused on chemotherapy suspensions that occurred during the scheduled period and three themes emerged from the interviews: the patients' clinical conditions, social issues and administrative problems. The research promoted investigation and discussion about the impacts generated in the face of chemotherapy suspensions, allowing nurses to reflect on care and administrative strategies that bring resolution and quality in the care provided with a more humanized and less mechanistic look that meet the desires and expectations of patients. with clarification of doubts and guidance relevant to the treatment.
