Abstract

A gas chromatographic study of the adsorption of vapors of organic compounds with different polarities on a carbon adsorbent with a bilayer based on a liquid crystal of the "double dovetail" type and unsubstituted β-cyclodextrin is performed. The thermodynamic characteristics of adsorption are determined from the temperature dependences of the Henry constants of adsorption. Comparison of the obtained thermodynamic characteristics of adsorption on an adsorbent with a monolayer of a liquid crystal and a liquid crystal–cyclodextrin bilayer is performed. It is shown that the modified with a bilayer adsorbent possesses moderate selectivity to weakly polar optical isomers under the conditions of gas adsorption chromatography. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
