Abstract

[Display omitted] • Investigation of biological properties a series of Mo2O2S2-thiosemicarbazone complexes. • A class of complexes better than Trolox for antixidant properties. • A strong structure–activity relationship. • Complexes with ligands displaying a phenol group kept free are very efficient for antitumoral activity. • Complexes with ligands displaying a pyridine group kept free are very efficient against bacteria and fungi. This paper deals with the biological properties of 14 coordination complexes assembled from a large panel of thiosemicarbazone ligands and [Mo 2 O 2 S 2 ]2+ cluster. The investigation of biological properties evidences a high cancer inhibition activity, and antimicrobial, antifungal and antioxidant properties. The complexes based on phenolic ligands are the most active towards tumor cells, while the pyridine derivatives are the most efficient against bacteria and fungi. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
