Abstract
- Indonesia, as a typical motorcycle-dependent city including Banda Aceh, has reported having high motorcycle traffic accidents with the consequence of fatality and being seriously injured. Previous works have noticed that driving risky behaviors have a positive correlation with several driving behaviors such as unsafe driving behaviors. Therefore, this study aiming at to investigate the determinant factor of unsafe driving behaviors using Driving Behavior Inventory (DBI) data. A DBI questionnaire survey was distributed among 300 motorcycle users with 280 (93%) of the responses valid and used in this study. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used to investigate the contributing factors of motorcyclist's unsafe driving behavior. The empirical result using PCA proves that the factor of violations considerably has the most significant factor that affected the unsafe driving behavior as the variance explained factor about 22.033%. Furthermore, the factors of aggressive driving and anxious driving have significantly influenced unsafe driving behavior for the total explained variance 16.178% and 11.299%, respectively. It is concluded that the violations and aggressive driving are considered the most contributing factors for unsafe driving behavior in Banda Aceh city of Indonesia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
