Abstract

The phenomenon of social inequality is present in several countries around the world, predominantly in the underdeveloped, and is mainly due to the poor distribution of income among the population and the lack of investments in the social, cultural, health and education areas. Therefore, the present work aimed to discuss how the clinical performance of psychology is impacted by social vulnerabilities, in the understanding of young people's coping with these situations arising from the social issue. In this way, this study weaves reflections in order to contribute to how psychology positions itself in the care and reception of young people to reduce the state of vulnerability to the risks existing in life. The article is theoretical in nature, it situates an exploratory descriptive typology of research, involving a qualitative approach. We opted for the design of the bibliographic research, which was based on texts collected in different scientific communication channels. The results indicate that uncertainties affect the young generation, we increasingly see young people in situations of social vulnerability and exclusions related to racism, social inequalities, and cultural goods and opportunities for leisure and work. In this scenario, it is concluded that it is urgent to develop public policies aimed at youth and the clinical psychologist is a professional capable of acting in order to minimize social vulnerabilities. In this way, actions and social policies are sought for the community and for groups in a condition of social vulnerability and that contribute to social transformation and improvement in the quality of life of the targeted population.
