Abstract

From a reading by Enrique Dussel, a genealogy of hierarchization and authoritarianism in Christian communities will be presented through the gradual abandonment of Judeo-Christian thought, replaced by Greek thought, heir to the philosophy of Parmenides. Western philosophy, since its beginning, has taken the path of seeking the “one” that has left Western culture prone to absolutism, to the exclusion of the other and to what we call hierarchization. The aim of this article is, through a bibliographic survey, to propose an inclusive and dialogical philosophical posture, open to the other, based on Semitic thought. Hellenic humanism constituted by a dualistic vision in anthropology and monistic at the metaphysical level creates less disposition for egalitarian dialogue, in addition to deep hierarchization in society, when compared to Semitic thought, whose anthropology is unitary, but bipolar at the metaphysical level, in belief in the Creator-creature relationship. Due to the intersubjective relations encouraged by Semitic thinking, the aporias to dialogue and the acceptance of the other resulting from absolutizing Hellenic philosophy are overcome, and the dialogical and egalitarian proposals become effective as a solution for the dialogue. The conclusion will indicate ways to overcome the difficulties of welcoming the different through openness to the other and personal responsibility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
