Abstract
- To investigate the effect of biochar on yield and nutrient quality of millet grain under tribenuron-methyl stress, in this study, Zhangzagu 10 and Jingu 21 were used as the study subjects, using a two-factor completely randomized block design with different biochar concentrations(0, 2%) and the amounts of tribenuron-methyl(113, 225, 450 g/ha), taking no tribenuron)methyl as a control, a total of 8 treatments were set to analyze the effect of addition of biochar on yield and nutrient quality of millet grain under tribenuron-methyl stress. The results showed that after the addition of biochar, the grain yield of two millet varieties significantly increased by 10.50% and 20.26% compared with that without adding biochar, and the yield of Zhangzagu 10 was significantly higher than that of Jingu 21. The content of potassium, vitamin C, and soluble sugar in the grains of Zhangzagu 10 and Jingu 21 increased significantly after adding biochar, which increased by 18.68% and 1.38%, 6.92% and 13.08%, 22.29% and 3.31%; The phosphorus content in the grais of Zhangzagu 10 reached the maximum when the spray concentration of tribenuron-methyl was 113 g/ha. After the addition of biochar in Jingu 21, the phosphorus content and crude fat content in the grains showed a decreased trend.After the addition of biochar, in the treatments of spraying tribenuron-methyl, the nitrogen content in the grains of the two millet varieties significantly increased by 3.79% and 4.62% compared with that in the treantment of no spraying tribenuron-methyl. Therefore, the application of biochar could alleviate the impact of tribenuron)methyl stress on millet yield and nutritional quality to a certain extent. The best treatment combination for this test was 2% of biochar with 113 g/ha of tribenuron-methyl. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
